Learn more about China’s One Belt One Road Initiative and Malta’s participation in the projects.

Incentivized restoring the ancient “silk road”- a historical trade route dated from 2nd century B.C. originated in Xi’an, China. It stretched through West Asia, Europe, and Africa; the Chinese government has implemented the One Belt One Road or the Belt Road Initiative (BRI) in 2013.

Such an ambitious project contains two parts. One focuses on overland connections, also known as the “Silk Road Economic Belt, and the other engaged multiple sea-based shipping lanes called the “21st Century Maritime Silk Road”.

Together, the BRI involves:

  • Over 70 countries
  • More than 60% of the total population
  • Roughly 30% of the global GDP
  • Multibillion-euro investment and trade opportunities.

In November 2018, China and Malta signed an agreement addressing the Belt Road Initiative. As one of the first European countries who officially signed an agreement with China, Malta actively participates in international projects.

The country also joins in investment opportunities in social, financial, infrastructural, intellectual, technological, environmental, and many other sectors with the Chinese government and corporations.

As one of the leading International Immigration companies in Malta, Integritas has responded to such calls by providing various high-quality investment, corporate and immigration services and opportunities globally.
